Art Department Report on UAE National Day Celebrations

On 1st December 2019 the Department of Art at JSSIS received an invitation from the Zee Arts Network Team led by Sijin Gopinathan to create the longest artwork on “The Journey of the Emirates” to celebrate the 48th UAE National Day at the Safari Mall, Sharjah on 1st December 2019 from 4pm to 7pm. The Chief Guest was renowned Emirati Artist Mr. Ahmed AL Falasi. It was amazing to see highly talented artists from different cultures and nationalities connecting to spread positivity, by sharing their feelings of nationalism through their artistic expressions on a life size canvas. This invitation was indeed a memorable achievement for JSSIS as a school, since only a selected few from schools across the entire UAE were privileged to be a part of this venture. Thereafter Ms. Zaahirah Murthy - Art Activist & Founder, invited Mr. Sugat to the 7th edition of the UAE National Day live painting event on the theme, “UAE - A Symbol of Tolerance” at the Dubai Outlet Mall on 2nd December between 2pm to 5pm. It was truly mesmerizing to share the dais with well-known artists of African, Egyptian, European and American descent who had come together with the sole purpose of expressing their feelings of Nationalism through their artistic strokes. As the Head of Department, Mr. Sugat strongly believes that ‘We all are different, but we must work together as one unit to make the department stronger”. And so he took along his co teachers of Art, Mr. Muzammil Hussain and Ms. Vidhi Soni with him to be a part of this live painting experience. This mutual feeling of growing together for the betterment of the school as a whole, is truly foresighted and inspiring indeed! At JSSIS, we are together at Heart……through Art!
