The Kindergarten Phase

Where Wonders Begin (Pre-K to KG2)

At JSS International School, the Kindergarten phase is the foundation of our 360-degree educational journey. We recognize that these early years are the most critical for brain development, and our “Early Years” program is designed to transform natural curiosity into a lifelong love for learning.

We follow a play-based, inquiry-driven approach that aligns with the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework while integrating the values of the JSS tradition.

The Learning Landscape: Holistic Development

Our Kindergarten curriculum focuses on seven key areas of development, ensuring every child grows “Above, Ahead, and Beyond” from day one.

  •  Communication & Language: We create a language-rich environment where children build confidence in speaking, listening, and early literacy through storytelling, rhymes, and interactive play.
  • Early Numeracy: Mathematics is taught through “hands-on” exploration—using shapes, patterns, and counting games to make abstract concepts concrete and fun.
  • Understanding the World: From our sensory gardens to basic “Junior Science” experiments, we encourage KG students to observe, question, and explore the environment around them.
  • Physical Development: Our dedicated indoor and outdoor play areas are designed to develop both gross motor skills (running, climbing) and fine motor skills (writing, drawing, and crafting).

A Nurturing Environment: The JSSIS Safety Net

We understand that for many children, Kindergarten is their first step away from home. We ensure this transition is seamless and joyful.

  •  Emotional Wellbeing: With our “Very Good” KHDA rating for Wellbeing, we prioritize a “settling-in” period that focuses on making every child feel safe, loved, and valued.

  • Personal & Social Growth: We teach the “soft skills” of life—sharing, empathy, and teamwork—helping children build their first meaningful friendships.

  • Language Continuity: Even in the early years, we introduce the foundations of Second and Third Languages (as opted in Grade 1), preparing them for the multilingual world they will grow up in.

Creative & Digital Spark

At JSSIS, we believe even our youngest learners should be “Future-Ready.”

  •  Creative Expression: Through daily sessions in music, movement, and messy play, children are given the freedom to express their unique personalities.

  • Guided Tech Exploration: We introduce technology in a safe, moderated way, using interactive tools that enhance learning without replacing the essential “hands-on” experience.
