Blended Learning
“I will teach you in a room.
I will teach you now in a virtual classroom.
I will teach you in your house.
I will teach you with a mouse.
I will teach you here and there.
I will teach you because I care.
So just do your very best.
And do not worry about the rest.”
The aforementioned lines very well explain how the teachers, at JSSIS, turned this vision into reality. In wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic, and closure of schools all over the UAE, JSSIS Dubai joined the bandwagon to commence online teaching. The school configured Microsoft Teams to provide online access to a range of academic materials, including curriculum, syllabus, e-books, links to digital libraries, lesson plans, video & audio lectures, PPTs, questions, quizzes, and assignments. Passage of time, introduced the concept of ‘Blended Learning’ and JSSIS readied the model in no time.
Blended learning combines the best of two training environments—traditional face-to-face classroom training and high-tech eLearning. By covering all the bases, all types of learners can be engaged—those who learn better in a structured environment that includes face-to-face interaction with an instructor, and independent types who learn better with semi-autonomous, computer-based training.
JSSIS’ plan of ‘Blended Learning’ integrated online with traditional face-to-face class activities in a planned, pedagogically valuable manner. All in all, synchronous and asynchronous sessions paved way to improvised academic performance
